Technical Assistance Work Gro= up

A Work Group is forming to explore ways that UHHP = can provide technical assistance and support to groups working to coordinate services for the homeless in SPA's and local communit= ies within Los Angeles<= /st1:PlaceName> County. = The first meeting of this group will be April 23, 2008, from 10 am to 12 noon, at Community Partners, 1000 N. Documenting Disabilities Work Group

Increasing the number = of homeless residents of Los Angeles County receiving disability benefits is key to our work in homeless healthca= re. The system is complex and there are numerous people and organizations involved in preparing applications for approval. UHHP wants to ensure there is available training to meet the full spectrum of needs. = ;

The new Work Group will explore the training that is currently available and help publicize t= hese programs. They will also develop training to fill the gaps.

The first meeting of t= his group will be May 15, 2008, from 10 am to 12 noon,= at a location to be announced. Please let us know if you can participate at:

Interim Staff for UHHP

Peggy Edwards and Pat Bowie are serving as iterim staff for UHHP for the ne= xt few months. As Executive Director, Peggy is responsible for coordinating programs, seeking funding for permanent staff, and supporting networks in SPA's 1, 2, 4, & 5. Pat is supporting homeless healthcare networks in SPA's 3, 6, 7, & 8.=

The purpose of this report is to present preliminary findings concerning program outcomes, and emergency department and inpatient hospital utilization and charges for the six grantees fun= ded through the Frequent Users of Health Services Initiative. Top= ics covered in this report include: 1) presenting conditions of the frequent user population; 2) preliminary findings related to program accomplishments (stability indicators); and 3) preliminary findings related to emergency department/hospital utilization and charges.&n= bsp; Data limitations and caveats are presented in the Appendix.<= /i>
