Steps to Successful Disability Applications - Introductory CourseThis introductory class is the first in a series of three classes leading to the "Certification in Preparing Disability Claims" and provides an opportunity for homeless advocates to better understand the framework and overall process for applying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and/or Social Security Disability Insurance benefits. Participants will also better understand their role as advocates, how to engage clients, gather appropriate documentation and work in a team environment to complete a comprehensive disability application. This training is provided by advocates with over 20 years of experience processing benefits applications for disabled individuals specifically designed for case managers, benefits advocates and other homeless advocates that plan to or are currently assisting clients prepare SSI/SSDI applications. Steps to Successful Disability Applications -Advanced CourseThis advanced training provides an opportunity for homeless advocates that have completed the introductory course to dive deeply into the disability benefits application process. Participants will learn, in detail, the application process, the component parts of the application along with tips and strategies for developing the application narrative. Developing the application narrative and reports content for the disability application will be at the heart of this training. At the conclusion of this training students will:
